Boldfaced Goods

I recently finished serving as the Creative Director and co-founder of Boldfaced Goods, where I spent nine years building the brand from the ground up. During that time, my business partner and I achieved great success, with our products being sold in over 800 stores worldwide and earning coverage on major media outlets such as Good Morning America, The View, and Buzzfeed, among others. Together, we ideated, designed, produced, photographed, promoted, packaged, and shipped over 750 unique products, all while operating with a zero dollar marketing budget. Unfortunately, due to the economic impact of the pandemic, we were forced to close our store at the end of 2022.

“Boldfaced Goods totally has my heart! They have turned such useful products into items I could not live without. Their products are

a huge seller in our shop - people get a kick out of the snarky humor. Great quality, and packaged wonderfully. I can’t say enough good things!”

— Emily James, Retailer out of Tomball, TX

Product Design

With high shipping costs, we strategized a formula to apply to all new product ideas to ensure that our products ship flat, are scalable, and market competitive.

Packaging

I kept the packaging as simple and affordable as possible, which is why everything is printed in black and white. Because our products were extremely colorful, the black and white branding was a nice contrast that really made the projects pop! We hate waste, so any packaging we created had to be either recyclable or compostable.

Displays

To keep costs down, all of our displays were made out of cardboard that could be shipped flat. I designed and then hand-silkscreened all the boxes.

Publicity

Modern life feels depressing at best and downright unbearable at worst, so we all deserve to spend our free time looking for a laugh here and there. Or, as is the case of Lauren Stanley and Shauna Hartsook, make that pursuit a full-time job. A failed art historian and jaded award-winning graphic designer respectively, the pair teamed up to form Boldfaced Goods — a humorous home goods startup that specializes in beautifully designed, environmentally friendly and brazenly silly products for every day use. Thanks to a love of music and knack for misinterpreting song lyrics, Boldfaced specializes in music-themed wipe wear and all manner of other deliciously silly household items. And the fun is proving infectious — nine years into their journey as a brand, Boldfaced has caught the notice of Buzzfeed, Good Morning America and, like everything else musical and ridiculous, TikTok. They’ve also managed to worm their way into over 700 stores worldwide. Made with love, the products will bring a sense of playfulness into your daily routine.

Product Commercials

Worked with director Sara Hughes to create this commercial for Good Morning America featuring our Swedish dishcloths. Our Jolly jerk promotional balloon video was filmed and edited by us.

Free Fonts &
Promo Videos

We asked some of our favorite type designers (Laura Worthington & Corey Holms) to let us buy and give away one of their fonts as a free download to increase conversions and grow our email list. After two successful font launches, I designed my own font “Sans Francais” which brings thousands of visitors to our site each month.

Trade Shows & Wholesale

Lauren and I attended several gift trade shows in New York and Las Vegas. I designed each booth from scratch and we ended up winning “Best Booth Design” in Las Vegas.
